We have volunteer opportunities supporting the Museum both Front-of-House and behind the scenes.

Volunteers ready to welcome our visitors

Front-of-House Volunteers are responsible for the Museum’s public face.

•Receptionists

•Museum Stewards

•People to serve in the Shop

•People to make and serve refreshments in our railway themed tea shop

Behind-the-Scenes Volunteers often use their experience, specialist or technical skills as:

Volunteers ready for a Victorian event

•Helping with Publicity, Media and IT.

• Researching, preparing and presenting Exhibitions and displays.

• Role playing for school visits.

• Archiving the Museum’s collection

The Behind-the-Scenes Volunteer teams often work when the Museum is closed to visitors. Some of them work from home.

Front-of-House and Behind-the-Scenes Volunteering roles are not mutually exclusive; indeed many of our Volunteers have roles in both areas.

Do get in touch and we will arrange to meet and talk through the possibilities.
